National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced since 1989 as part of the academic programs. The NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our college education. The NSS unit is a student oriented organization which facilitates students to involve themselves in various social activities to serve the society and bring about a healthy change in the community. It provides students a good platform to learn and serve the community especially downtrodden, poor and the needy.

AIMS:

The program aims to inculcate the spirit of social service in students and to provide service to society without bias. It also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the victims of natural calamities

 

OBJECTIVES:

 Understand the community in which they work.

 Understand themselves in relation to their community.

 Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.

 Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.

 Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.

 Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.

 Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.

 Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.

 Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.

 Practice national integration and social harmony.

The NSS units of this college consist of 200 volunteers. The units have been taking up various activities for the last 28 years. The NSS unit conducted/organized various activities in the college with the umbrella of NSS unit, with the help of Nodal coordinator, S.v.University . The NSS program officers are S.Subbarayudu, Lecturer in Sanskrit and Dr. A.Sujala Swapnasmitha, Lecturer in Physics.
